Social Worker – Specialist Palliative Care
Managing your own caseload, you will assess and respond to the needs of adults affected by serious illness, death and bereavement, with opportunities to work with individuals, families (including children) and in groups. As an advocate for service users who are at the end of life, you will provide counselling support, deal with complex practice issues and ethical dilemmas. You will work in a small team of specialist social workers and counsellors who work in partnership with health colleagues to provide high quality, seamless, therapeutic care. The service is provided across the Medway and Swale area, where service users are seen in the community, in the inpatient unit and in day hospice. Within a supportive work environment, you will receive excellent supervision and development opportunities including the chance to attend relevant internal and external courses. In addition to a DipSW or CQSW, you must have demonstrable post qualification experience of counselling people affected by serious illness. You must be registered, or in the process of registering with the GSCC. A full driving licence is essential. Any offer of appointment will be subject to a Criminal Records Bureau enhanced disclosure.
