Sessional Support Workers for school holiday and Saturday club

Temporary contract to March 2009 · Based in Ashford and Shepway £8.13 - £9.56 per hour
Thanet Children’s Participation Project works with children and young people to enable them to engage in positive activities, contributing to their communities and making their voices and opinions heard. We are now looking to develop our work with children with disabilities and are actively seeking to appoint five fun, creative and approachable Support Workers. As a sessional worker your focus will be to provide support and positive play and leisure experiences for children and young people with disabilities, in a scheme which will run on 1 Saturday per month, 10 days during the school summer holidays, and an additional 2.5 days during the October half-term. This provision is to be replicated in both Ashford and Shepway. You will need to have experience of working with children and young people with disabilities, knowledge and understanding of the issues facing disabled children and young people, and the ability to engage with young people using participative methods in an informal setting. Reliability and punctuality are a critical element of this role. You will be educated to GCSE standard (or equivalent). Hours for these posts will be variable and appointment is subject to an enhanced CRB disclosure. As well as a strong commitment to your development, we offer generous holidays, contributory stakeholder pension, childcare vouchers and flexible working. For an informal discussion about this role, please contact Donna Ramm on 01843 596659. For information on how to apply, please visit www.playyourpart.co.uk in the first instance,
